13 Propositions to be Voted on in Nov. (Warning alot of this has my opinion in it)

I just wanted to take this time to inform. Did you know that statewide there are 13 propositions being voted on in the state of California this year on top of whatever you'll be voting about in your county and on top of voting for a president and vice president so to help you out i want to give you information on all 13 propositions!!! sounds like fun huh?! alright lets get started.

Proposition 2: Treatment of Farm Animals

This proposition will demand that calves raised to become veal, egg laying hens, and pregnant pigs be kept in cages large enough to allow them to spread their wings or extend their limbs, lay down and be able to stand up and turn around.

Positive Aspects of this Prop: Animal treatment sucks!!! This will force people to treat animals better before they go to the slaughter and these animals deserve at least that before they end up on you dinner plate. It also makes it a misdemeanor that can send you to prison if you hurt an animal and fine you up to 1000$$. This Prop to some people won't do enough but at least it's doing something and were getting a start.

Negative Aspects of this Prop: There are exemptions so Lawfully Slaughtered Animals and Rodeo Animals and 4-H programs as well as research and experimentation. So how much progress is really being made? And you can get fined 25,000 for burning DVDs and put in jail for five years, but this barely does anything it's really up to you what you do but i think we could have done much better in protecting animals.

Proposition 3 Children's Hospital Bond

This Proposition would guarantee $980 MILLION dollars in bonds for construction, expansion, renovation and equipping of hospitals that specialize in the care and treatment of children.

Positive Aspects of this Prop: It will help a lot of children, alleviate the amount of patients in certain hospitals as well as help in the life saving process by updating equipment in the hospital.

Negative Aspects of this Prop: it cost 980$$ Million to do. Why can't we do it for cheaper? we have a horrible deficit and could fix it with all this money in bonds on the ballot this year. Why not do that and fix the status quo and they maybe once the deficit is fixed we could add something to the budget?

Proposition 4 Parental Notification If a Minor is Going to Have an Abortion

This Proposition would require that parents of a minor be made aware at least 48hours in advance before a doctor can perform an abortion procedure on a female under the age of 18yrs
Positive Aspects of this Prop: Ensures a minors legal guardian knows about the procedure because there have been several deaths that were credited to infection and the deaths are believed that they would have been prevented if someone would have known about the procedure that had been done. Also parents know if a child gets a drivers licence or first job so why shouldn't they know when there child is having a surgery.
Negative Aspects of this Prop: This may increase illegal abortions for minor females that are determined for her parents not to find out. Thus this might increase the females who die per year due to illegal abortions.

Proposition 5 Nonviolent Offenders-- Sentencing Parole and Rehabilitation

this proposition would require California to expand individualized treatment and rehab programs for nonviolent offenders and parolees. Prop 5 would also shorten parole for certain nonviolent offenders and re class some marijuana-related misdemeanors to infractions.

Positive Aspects of this Prop: Individualized treatment is better. The individualized treatment may actually rehabilitate the individual and then they won't offend again which is the goal of the criminal justice system anyways.
Negative Aspects of this Prop: will increase cost to state. costs $460 million dollars in bonds. Will shorten Parole for certain offenders. In my opinion when they give you parole for a certain amount of time there is a reason and i don't think that is should be shortened at all.
Proposition 6 Criminal Penalty and Laws
Prop 6 would increase penalties for certain crimes including VIOLATIONS OF GANG INJUNCTIONS, THE SALE OR USE OF METHAMPHETAMINE AND THE CARRIES OF A GUN (EITHER LOADED OR CONCEALED) BY CERTAIN FELONS. This Prop would then also change rules of evidence to permit use of certain hearsay evidence when witnesses are unavailable.
Positive Aspects of this Prop: Gangs will be forced to separate or there will be major consequences which will hopefully cut down on gang violence in the state of California. It will also harden punishments for Meth usage sales and drugs as well as illegal weapon possession by a felon. I think that sound great. We could be made safer. Less gangs. Less Drugs and less felons with guns.
Negative Aspects of this Prop: we have to promise $965 million dollars to law enforcement again that's a lot of money and we have a deficit. other than that i really like this proposition.
Proposition 7 Renewable Energy

Prop 7 would require electric companies (i.e Southern California Edison) to get at least 50% of their power from renewable sources by 2025.

Positive Aspects of this Prop: The electricity price might go down eventually and we use cleaner energy.
Negative Aspects of this Prop: it will raise your electricity bill by 3% until 2025.
Proposition 8 Limits on Marriage
Prop 8 would overturn a California Supreme Court ruling from May 17th, 2008 that made Homosexual marriage legal in the state of California. This Prop would specify that Marriage between a male and female are the only valid types of marriages in the state of California.
Positive Aspects of this Prop: ? if you believe in god you believe that this is the natural order and you feel better about yourself.
Negative Aspects of this Prop: ummm there was this thing called the civil rights movement and in the 1960s people said god hated inter-racial marriages too. If you get a chance look up the 14th amendment. but in honesty i don't care because there is this thing called the separation of church and state and so the supreme court will overturn this if it's passed anyways. oh yeah and it will also cause a revenue loss because same-sex couples would no longer be paying for marriage licences.
Proposition 9 Criminal Justice System
Prop 9 would expand the rights of crime victims. It would include notification to victims and allow victims input into certain phases of the criminal justice process, including bail and parole hearings. Prop 9 would the also reduce the number of parole hearings which inmates are entitled.

Positive Aspects of this Prop: it will help victims keep the people who hurt them in jail. It will help victims remain safe if their offender gets out.
Negative Aspects of this Prop: cost does not outweigh financial benefit and similar laws are already in place.

Proposition 10 Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Renewable Energy Bond
Prop 10 would give $5 BILLION dollars in bonds to subsidize the purchase of alternative-fuel trucks and cars. On top of that Prop 10 would also provide funds for research and development of alternative fuels

Positive Aspects of this Prop: It would help consumers purchase one of these vehicles, make the technology progress more rapidly, and force the transition to these vehicles quicker. Thus reducing our dependence on foreign oil faster.
Negative Aspects of this Prop: Will costs 10 million dollars over time. Also people will eventually be forced to switch anyway so is it really necessary? And finally electric car technology, hydrogen fuel cell technology exists and hybrid electrics exist as well as hybrid hydrogen fuel cell technology and you can't forget BMW who has developed the Hydrogen 7 prepared to release 2010 or 2011. The car is already in the test phases and uses a Hydrogen Combustible engine.

Proposition 11 Redistricting

Prop 11 will allow for new district lines to be drawn.

For Or Against? I don't really care it just changes who your congress person and i already don't like ours.

Proposition 12 Veterans Bond Act of 2008
This Prop will allocate $900 MILLION to veterans to buy houses and farms.

Proponency: This will really help veterans and we owe them are freedom.
Opponency: why do they always attach good causes to large amounts of money? i think veterans get a lot and we could use this to help pay our deficit and then help them when California is out of debt.
proposition 1A: Reliable Safe Bullet Train Bill
This Prop will give $10Billion dollars to build a bullet train and track that goes from L.A. to San Francisco Bay.
Proponency: will create 160,000 construction jobs and 450,000 permanent jobs. Burns Clean, will help get cars and traffic off the road. Can get from L.A. to San Francisco Bay in slightly over 2hrs and get to travel at 220 miles per hour. And will eventually bring in revenue to California from people who will ride the train and people who will come to California to tour.
Opponency: all together it will cost 20 Billion Dollars which is larger than the California state deficit so i think that the deficit should be fixed first and then we can talk about the train. Also prop 10 helps consumers drive more environmentally and it costs such a small fraction of this i think that we should pass prop 10 not this. Were spending money we don't have.
Okay now that's done! Whew! well i want to leave you with one last thing. Do you know how important your vote is?
Did you know that One vote was what Hitler won by and became the leader of the Nazi Party? Think at least if someone would have voted we may have avoided WW2 and the Holocaust. Your vote is important. DON'T WASTE IT.
On a final note make your own decisions not mine. Take the chance to inform yourself and vote. It's as easy as sitting on the couch checking a yes or no box. I know this because I'm an absentee voter and that's what I do. Please get Registered and make your voice heard.

Prop. 5 would actually save money, while expanding access to drug treatment and safely reducing the size of the prison population. According to the nonpartisan legislative analyst, Prop. 5 would save taxpayers $2.5 billion!

As it was explained to me, Prop 7 doesn't actually raise your utility bar 3% BY 2025. In a worst case scenario in 2025 your utility bill could raise 3%. That's only a $3 increase on a $100 bill. So really not bad for doubling the rate at which all utility companies have to power California with clean renewable energy and we double the rate at which we stop contributing to global warming.

To Margaret: I got my info non partisan from the california state website and it actually says we would be losing revenue as well as having less people in prisons. We also have to promise a certain number of bonds for the prop. so while your info was skewed, mine was not. By the way did yes on 5 tell you how long it would take california to save 2.5 billion? is that after we finish paying off the bonds, how many years will it honestly take. To Anonomous prop 7 as i heard it explained (the california state website covered this one okay)will raise your bill by 3% in order to generate enough revenue so that california has enough extra money to build the items needed so that california can use cleaner energy. Also if you read my previous blog, global warming doesn't exist, not to me. but i would like cleaner air and cheaper energy and paying 3% to do this does not bug me as all that is actually why i'm voting yes on 7 Anyways though Thanks for Reading my Blog.
